SPECIAL PROGRAMS
B.A. Plus Spanish School has 6 additional programs to cater to your needs and interests. Each program takes 2 weeks (20 hours of private lessons in total) to complete and is ideal for students with an intermediate/advanced level of Spanish.
• Literature of Argentina and Latin America
The classes will expose students to the historic development of literature of Argentina as well as Latin America. The program will cover the following literary periods:
- Pre-Colonial and Colonial Native American
- Manerismo
- Baroque
- Neoclassical
- Gauchesco
- Romanticism
- Realism
- Naturalism
- Modernism
- Avant-Garde
- Today’s literature
Each period will be explored in great detail and students will learn about the important authors and read their most significant literary masterpieces. Literature will be discussed and analyzed within the social and political context of their periods.
• Writing Workshop
In this course, students will learn how to write compositions using correct Spanish grammar and structure. Throughout the course, students will expand their knowledge of governing grammar rules of Spanish while utilizing hands-on practice techniques. The course will concentrate on the basic mechanics of Spanish with primary focus on communication, syntactic connections and linguistic relation etc. This intensive course will also provide students with lesson summaries and reviews . By the end of the program, students will possess the necessary knowledge to compose and edit various types of texts in Spanish.
• Economics
This program allows students to learn economic terms and concepts in Spanish. The course is ideal for students that have studied economics in the past and want to learn respective terminology in Spanish to apply it to their professional, academic or personal needs. In this program, you will learn the following:
- Principles and applications of economic theory
- Economic history of Argentina.
- Economic analysis of current events
• Journalism & Media
This program concentrates on learning specific terms and concepts of Journalism and Media. The goal is to incorporate terminology such as genres of journalism, media classifications and definitions in Spanish. The program also covers NGO’s as well as Argentine journalism and media industry. This program is ideal for students that have studied Journalism and/or Media in the past and want to apply their knowledge in Spanish.
• Social History and Politics of Argentina
This course is based on a chronological review of the political and sociological evolution of Argentina. The following periods will be covered:
- Early 1800’s and declaration of independence
- Internal conflicts between “Unitarios” and “Federales”
- The beginning of democracy
- Peronismo
- Military dictatorships
- Argentina today
Each period will be accompanied by a social description along with its demographic, cultural and ideologic characteristics. Students will also learn how each period affects other countries in Latin America. This is a great program for students that are interested in learning about political and social developments of Argentina as well as Latin America.
• D.E.L.E. and C.E.L.U. exams preparation programs*
B.A. Plus offers 3 week preparatory courses for D.E.L.E. (Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language) and C.E.L.U. (Certificate of Spanish, Language and Use) exams.
Both exams are official qualifications accrediting levels of competence and command of the Spanish language. D.E.L.E. is issued by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish Ministry for Education, and C.E.L.U. is issued by the Consorcio Interuniversitario on behalf of the Argentinean Ministry for Education.
